“From every wound there is a scar, and every scar tells a story. A story that says “I survived.” That’s why Brodie’s life story is the most beautiful of them all.
Brodie is a German Shepherd and Border Collie mix. When he was born, he was attacked by his own mother, leaving him with serious cranial and facial injuries, according to Metro.
Due to the attack, he is now partially blind and his face is forever deformed. That’s why he is not accepted by everyone and has been pushed down a lot. He was lucky enough to survive the attack, but not much lucky after it, since things life didn’t get any easier for him.
Brodie spent the early days of his life recovering from the abuse he had witnessed. Later, he was adopted from the kennel and found a new home. Just when his life started to improve a bit, they sent him back because, as they said, he was “too hyper.” The kennel struggeled to find him another family that would love him, but apparently being different and looking “weird” makes it hard for people to love you.
But not everyone minds this. A couple, Amanda Richter and Brad Ames, followed each post about Brodie and felt really connected to him just by looking at his pictures.
“I looked at his photos every day and even cried a few times. We felt drawn to him for some reason,” Amanda told Metro.
They went to the kennel to meet Brodie and from the minute they laid eyes on him, they immediately fell in love with him. The three of them went for a walk and became connected and attached to each other at once.
“[We] ended up bringing him home the same day because the rescue really felt we were a great fit,” Amanda said.
Brodie has finally found a place to call home and great people who love him, despite of the way he looks. Both Amanda and Brad feel lucky and happy that he’s part of their family now. They don’t mind that he’s too hyper, as his previous family has described him. They know that Brodie is clever and learns new tricks really fast.

Valentine’s Day is coming up, so it’s a great time to talk about love!! This mug from @groundsandhounds speaks volumes. A dogs love is unconditional. They don’t judge us, or themselves. You can be at your absolute worst and your dog will still be by your side and love you with everything they got! Brodie is the perfect example of this. Even though he’s been through some tough times himself, he radiates love and happiness. So always remember to “love like a dog!”🐶❤️🥰 @groundsandhounds is an amazing company that not only makes delicious coffee and cute mugs, but 20% of their profits go towards helping fund rescue initiatives for dogs! Every cup helps a pup, and every pound helps a hound! My morning coffee tastes so much better knowing that. ☺️
“He just needed patience and someone to be consistent,” she said. “He gets better every week.”
They even think that he can do a great job in helping others who suffer like he did.
“We hope to train him to be a therapy dog one day so he can help other people with disabilities,” Amanda said.
“We also hope that we can raise awareness for other special needs dogs and show people that just because someone or something looks different, they can be perfectly imperfect in their own unique way.”
What a heart-warming and inspiring story!
Brodie, the dog with a “weird” face, survived a wicked attack at birth, found a caring family, and now is even training to be a therapy dog!
